Living Life to the Full

The Living life to the Full program helps you be happier, more confident and worry less. Living Life to the Full helps participants have more energy, gain confidence, get out more, and enjoy better, healthier relationships in a meaningful and user-friendly training in life skills.

The course runs on Wednesdays, starting on April 18 - June 6, 2018 (10:30 am –noon) and is held at:

Bounce Back



Bounce Back: Reclaim your Health is delivered through the Canadian Mental Health Association, Manitoba and Winnipeg in partnership with the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority. Bounce Back is a mental health program for people 18 and over experiencing low mood, depression, stress, worry and/or anxiety. A diagnosis is not required to participate in Bounce Back. There are two evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions that the Bounce Back program employs. The first is a psycho-educational video (online or DVD) for anyone wanting to improve their mental health by learning new techniques to reduce symptoms.

The second intervention is a referral from a patient’s family doctor or nurse practitioner in the IERHA region to the telephone-coaching component of the program. Once referred, patients are provided access to CBT-based workbooks and connected to a Bounce Back Coach for up to 5 sessions.  During these session, patients have the ability to check-in, problem-solve, and discuss their learning. Within the health care/mental health care system, Bounce Back provides a preventative role in the treatment of mental health problems, helping individuals in the short-term, but with long-term positive effects.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) Classes

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is recommended to be the first line treatment for most mental disorders. However, many people do not have access to CBT. There are increasing CBT self-help options (books, websites, and online interactive programs, however, people are more likely to use self-help programs with limited therapist guidance. Therefore, in collaboration with Clinical Health Psychology and Psychiatry Departments from the University of Manitoba, we have implemented CBTm Education Classes to allow participants to: 1) learn the basic principles of CBT, 2) learn the self-help CBT resources, 3) get a “head start” on CBT.

The four classes are semi-structured and provide an introduction to mindfulness, cognitive behavioural theory, thought records, exposure and behavioural activation, goal setting, problem solving, and healthy living. The classes include both information and experiential learning. Home practice is recommended weekly. Participants can bring one family member or friend to the classes.

Community Wellness Initiative

The Community Wellness Initiative is a collaboration between the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority and Manitoba Housing which supports the overall mental health and wellness of tenants living in public housing (Manitoba Housing) and assists tenants to bring about positive change in their communities.

The key outcome of the program is "capacity building." Capacity building is the motivation and self-direction that a person or community possesses to bring about positive change. Capacity building includes individual capacities, community capacities and equipping staff who deliver services.

The Community Wellness Initiative offers two services: The Group Program and The Outreach Program

Relational Therapy

Community Mental Health Relational Therapy (Couple & Family) was developed in partnership with the University of Winnipeg's Aurora Family Therapy Centre and is offered at no charge to residents of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority. 

What is Relational Therapy?

We all have times in our relationships and in our lives when there is more rough than smooth, more down than up, when we suffer emotional pain and despair and end up with a feeling of "What's the use?"

Sometimes the problems are between partners, parents and children, in-laws, or even employer and employee. When problems crop up between you and those you care about, relational therapy will help you find resolutions. Our therapists will work with you on your goals to help you find a satisfactory resolution to your problems.

About our Therapists:

Aurora's therapists are senior clinical family therapy students completing their Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. They are under the supervision of an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy approved Supervisor, and follow those professional guidelines and standards. Many of the students in this program are already established in their careers in social work, psychology, nursing, ministry or other helping professions.

Shared Care

What is Shared Care?

Shared Care is a mental health program that involves physicians and nurse practitioners working collaboratively with a Shared Care Mental Health Worker and a consulting psychiatrist. This collaborative model is to assist individuals with mental health difficulties by accessing mental health services in a timely manner within the familiarity of their medical clinic. This collaboration addresses the whole person and not just one aspect of their condition. The Shared Care Mental Health Worker works in the medical clinic and partners with the physician/nurse practitioner to assess and treat mental health and physical conditions. Combining this care allows patients to feel that, for most problems, they have come to the right place.

How does Shared Care work?

Access to Shared Care services begins when a physician or nurse practitioner identifies the fact that their patient is experiencing mental health difficulties. In these situations, the physician or nurse practitioner may refer the patient to the Shared Care Mental Health Worker. Typically, the Shared Care Mental Health Worker performs a mental health assessment and provides short-term and time-limited brief treatment, depending on the needs of the individual. For those patients who need specialized mental health care, the Shared Care Mental health Worker can access psychiatry for assessment and consultation.

Where is Shared Care offered?

Currently, Shared Care is only located at  Beausejour Primary Care Clinic — 151 1st St. South and Beausejour HEW Clinic.

Towards Flourishing

The Towards Flourishing Project is a new initiative which promotes the mental well-being of parents and their families through the development and addition of a mental health promotion strategy to Manitoba’s Families First Home Visiting Program. The Towards Flourishing Mental Health Promotion Strategy focuses on positive mental health as well as mental illness and distress.
