Public display of the Selkirk Regional Health Centre now open

The grand opening of the new Selkirk Regional Health Centre is quickly approaching. Visit our public display at the Gaynor Family Regional Library to learn more about the progress and features of the new health centre.

The public display is featured on the Gerdau History Wall, which is left of the library entrance across from the Ubuntu Café and Bakery. We encourage people to check back because it will be updated periodically from August to November.

Set to open June 2017, the new health centre will offer more specialized acute and out-patient services to the area’s residents. It will provide the region’s first MRI, a family birth unit, outpatient centre and improved/expanded facilities for emergency department, surgery, dialysis, chemotherapy, food services, information & communications technology and more. To improve patient comfort and privacy, more than 80 per cent of the rooms will be private rooms, compared to 20 per cent in the existing hospital.  An estimated 130 fulltime equivalent permanent new jobs will be created for the local economy.

“We are pleased to report that this project is moving forward on time and on budget,” says Vice President Corporate Services, Ron Janzen.

The new health centre is located between the current hospital at 100 Easton Drive and the Selkirk Recreation Complex at 180 Easton Drive. To view videos and facts, visit www.ierha.ca, select Care in Your Hospital and click on New Regional Health Centre in Selkirk.

The library is located at 806 Manitoba Avenue, Selkirk. It is open weekdays 9:30-9 p.m., Saturdays 9:30-5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. The library is closed on Mondays.
