Stonewall, Man., April 1, 2011—The Interlake Regional Health Authority’s (Interlake RHA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Lock as their new Chief Executive Officer. Lock’s first day with the Interlake RHA was April 1, 2011.

Prior to joining the Interlake RHA, Lock was Executive Director for Regional Health Authorities of Manitoba Inc. (RHAM), the association of Manitoba’s 11 RHAs. In this position that he held for over 10 years, he reported to RHAMs Board of Directors as the association pursued joint activities of mutual benefit to the regional health authorities.

According to Interlake RHA board chair, Jim Rodger, the board members on the selection committee were impressed with Lock’s extensive experience with RHAs and his familiarity with the role and function of the Interlake RHA.

“We were looking for a CEO who had a good understanding of the complexity of the operations within the Interlake RHA,” Rodger said. “Randy was able to hit the ground running and we’ve experienced a very seamless transition.”

Involved in health services management since 1985, Lock holds a BA and MHSc in Health Administration. He has a broad understanding of healthcare, having held executive management positions in urban and rural healthcare facilities and organizations. He has also provided operational expertise to Manitoba Health.

“I'm looking forward to expanding the relationships I have already developed within the Interlake RHA,” Lock said. “The Interlake RHA is known for its forward looking approach to health care and community wellness. I am very pleased to be working with people who have shown such commitment to health care and to be a part of our future initiatives.”

Prior to working with RHAM, Lock was Director of Corporate Services at Seven Oaks General Hospital where he was responsible for corporate planning, project management, communications and public relations. He was also actively involved in the day-to-day management of the hospital while serving as Vice-President of Professional Services. He worked with the Winnipeg RHA as Associate Vice-President of Planning and Development. While there, he participated in the provincial transition to regional health. He has a long history of advancing community health. He currently chairs the CEO Forum of the Canadian Healthcare Association based in Ottawa and he is Past-Chair of the Manitoba Marathon Foundation Board of Directors.

Lock and his wife Karlee have four children: Evan, Julie, Skylar and Sampson. He is working out of the Stonewall corporate office.

Lock replaces Kevin Beresford who retired from the Interlake RHA on March 31, 2011.
