05/31/12 CEO Appointed for New Interlake-Eastern RHA

May 31, 2012 -- A more responsive, streamlined regional health authority (RHA) system continues to take shape with the appointment of John Stinson as the chief executive officer for Manitoba's new Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority. Stinson previously served as CEO with the southeast authority.

The other chief executive officers are:
  • Helga Bryant, Northern RHA – the former NOR-MAN and Burntwood RHAs
  • Kathy McPhail, Southern RHA – the former RHA-Central Manitoba and South Eastman Health Authority
  • Penny Gilson, Western RHA – the former Brandon, Assiniboine, and Parkland RHAs
  • Arlene Wilgosh continues as CEO of Winnipeg RHA, which has assumed responsibilities for Churchill Health

The new Interlake-Eastern RHA was created from the merger of the former Interlake and North Eastman health authorities as part of a provincial plan to reduce the number of RHAs in Manitoba from 11 to five. Manitoba Health anticipates a reduction of 30-35 corporate RHA positions across the province through the mergers, with these administrative savings redirected into supporting front line care.

Further information on the mergers is available at the Manitoba Health website:
