1/3/13 Specialist Accepting Clients at New Practice in Selkirk

January 3, 2013 —An obstetrician gynecologist who has provided consultative and surgical expertise at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for the past 25 years while practicing in Winnipeg is opening a practice in Selkirk.

Dr. Eric Stearns will begin practicing on January 7 in conjunction with Interlake Surgical Associates at Selkirk's Clandeboye Clinic. Stearns has recently retired from practice in Winnipeg after 29 years. He anticipates spending three days a week in Selkirk and laughs when people question his ambitious retirement plans.

“I've always enjoyed working in Selkirk. It's always been a very great place to work. The people are great and there has always been a respect of staff,” Stearns said.

Stearns will offer general gynecological care with specialized services including laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor surgery and treatment of incontinence and infertility. He is accepting new patients and will continue to accept referrals.

Stearns is an assistant professor with the University of Manitoba's Department of Gynecology. He regularly consults with the northern medical unit in Hodgson and Nunavut and has been an active member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons having served as president and on college committees.

To make an appointment with Dr. Stearns, contact Interlake Surgical Associates, (204) 785-5507.
