Primary care includes the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of various health conditions. It also includes referrals to specialists and diagnostic services such as laboratory tests or X-rays.

Primary Care is the first point of contact you have with the healthcare system. It’s the place you’re most likely to go for your everyday health care needs. Delivering primary care are family physicians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, mental health professionals, pharmacists, therapists and others.

Interlake-Eastern RHA is working towards providing the appropriate health care provider at the right time and at the right place for the region’s residents. We are focusing on offering a variety of accessible and flexible services that encourage healthy living and offer family centred care. At the foundation of primary health care is building a trusting relationship between clients and their health care providers so that people feel comfortable participating in their health care decisions and managing the care of their health.
