Services for Older Adults
Support Services to Seniors assists communities in the development of services that will support seniors in their independence in the community. Community developed, community run services such as congregate meals, grocery shopping, transportation, and home maintenance may be offered through the Support Services to Seniors program. Specific services will vary from community to community. Seniors programs focus on health promotion and maintenance of independent living. Support Services to Seniors, works along side Home Care Services in the community with the goal of enabling clients to remain in their own homes. Programs are provided which assist clients to achieve and maintain health, well-being and personal independence. Support Services to Seniors focus is on wellness and support.

Seniors Community Resource Councils
Seniors Community Resource Councils are non-profit organizations that provide services in the community by coordinating volunteers and fee-for-service workers to assist seniors to maintain their independence in the community and for person's with disabilities. The services provided by this program allow seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible. The services coordinated include transportation to medical appointments, social events, house cleaning, yard work/minor maintenance, snow removal, friendly visiting and referrals to appropriate agencies. The organization also organizes health and wellness events, fraud and safety programs, safe driving courses and provides falls prevention programs, manages the Victoria Lifeline personal response service and several more services.

Adult Day Programs
The primary objective of Adult Day Program is to strengthen the individual’s ability to function within their own home by preventing physical and mental deterioration, which so often results from social isolation and loneliness. Adult Day Programs are for older adults to meet other people and enjoy recreational activities away from home. Programming is designed for fun, fitness and social activity. The service is accessed through Home Care Services and there is a fee for this service. Listed below are the Interlake-Eastern Programs:

Congregate Meal Programs

Congregate meal programs have been developed to assist seniors and elders that may be at nutritional risk due to inability to prepare or access meals in their own home, family supports or community, to provide hot nutritious meals to those at risk with consideration for dietary needs of the older adult and the older adult with diabetes, and to fulfill social needs by bringing seniors and elders together to eliminate the loneliness often associated with eating alone.

Meals on Wheels
Most congregate meal programs have meals on wheels program or some type of informal take out service for those seniors who are unable to attend the program in person.
