Eriksdale X-ray Services Fully Operational

Installation of new X-ray equipment and facility renovations completed

March 17, 2014 – Residents in Eriksdale now have access to brand new X-ray equipment in the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for emergent and non-emergent situations.

Services had been temporarily unavailable since February 17 as part of a routine equipment upgrade to better ensure the health and safety of patients in the area.  Patient safety and the maintenance of high quality standards are top priorities for Diagnostic Services Manitoba (DSM), the public organization responsible for delivering rural laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, and the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.

“Our commitment is to provide quality laboratory and imaging services to support the health care needs of all Manitobans,” said Jim Slater, CEO of DSM. “We’re very pleased to be announcing that the new equipment in Eriksdale has improved safety features for patients and will help to ensure doctors and patients get the best X-ray results.”

X-ray technologists have been fully trained on the new equipment and have begun accepting patients.

“We regret the inconvenience Eriksdale and area residents will have experienced while we upgraded our X-ray equipment. We’re pleased that residents now have access to new X-ray equipment and that we’ve been able to resume all aspects of emergency room service in Eriksdale,” said John Stinson, CEO for Interlake-Eastern RHA.

DSM and Interlake-Eastern RHA would like to thank Ashern’s Lakeshore General Hospital for accommodating increased traffic from patients who were diverted there as a result of the Eriksdale service suspension.
