Interlake-Eastern RHA hosts three day Family Medicine Residents Retreat in Selkirk
Interlake-Eastern RHA hosted the 2016 Family Medicine Residents Retreat in Selkirk September 15 to 18 to showcase the many practice and lifestyle opportunities available to physicians in our region. Each year, first and second year family medicine residents attend a different regional health authority for the retreat providing first and second year residents the opportunity to explore Manitoba with their families and rekindle relationships with classmates. Along with other rural health authorities in Manitoba, the Office of Rural and Northern Health, University of Manitoba and class chief residents, Interlake-Eastern RHA  planned various tourist, social and educational events throughout the weekend.

On Friday, the residents  mingled at a welcome wine and cheese with health community members mingling with residents throughout the evening to kick off the weekend. On Saturday, recruiters, regional health authorities and community partners were set-up  at a job fair to provide information on different career and lifestyle opportunities for the residents who will be practice ready in one to two years. Local physicians were also in attendance at both events to speak to their personal experiences living and working in our region. Saturday evening was a dinner and dance for residents to relax and wrap up a busy weekend.

This event provided a platform for the Interlake-Eastern RHA to impress upon the physicians that Interlake-Eastern is a wonderful place to live, raise a family and practice medicine . The event wouldn’t have been a success without the community support, sponsorship and collaboration so thank you!
