Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority offers a bursary program to assist in recruitment and retention of healthcare professional for the region.
The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority provides a bursary for tuition fees to a maximum of $2,550 per academic year to full time student who are pursuing a career in a healthcare profession that is of mutual value to the applicant and the organization. Ex. nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy. Students may apply for the bursary a maximum of two (2) times.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited education program leading to a degree, diploma or certificate in a health care profession. In order to apply for bursary funding, the applicant must have completed two (2) years of a program that is four (4) or more years.
The awarding of a bursary is conditional upon a return of service agreement, based on full time hours for that classification for every year assistance is provided.
Applicants are considered in the following order
- An employee of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority
- Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority resident
- Other interested students may be considered
In support of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Report (TRC), and in order to meet the Interlake-Eastern RHA objective of a population-based Regional Representative Workplace, comprised of an appropriate Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) workforce of 27%, the following shall apply: Except where provided otherwise in a Collective Agreement, where candidate qualifications and experience are determined to be equal by the employer, first consideration shall be given to Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) Applicants.
Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority will endeavour to place graduates in the preferred locations indicated on their return of service agreements.
