ShiftLink
What is ShiftLink?
ShiftLink is a web and mobile app that helps to notify you of an open and available shift.
On Monday, May 5, 2025 Interlake-Eastern Health’s regional scheduling office will be adopting ShiftLink. This means we’ll be moving away from using EZ Texting and paper print outs to advise staff of available shifts. You will need to have the ShiftLink app on your phone by day’s end May 4 at the latest.
STEPS TO GETTING STARTED
- Starting April 14, all staff who are scheduled by regional scheduling will receive an activation email from ShiftLink at the email address on file with Quadrant Self Service (this is likely your home email address).
- Click on the link in the email.
- Create and confirm a new password.
- Click the “Activate Account” button.
YOU NEED THIS ACTIVATION EMAIL TO SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU CAN PROCEED.
- If you download the app without first activating your account the app will not work for you. It will ask you for a code instead of letting you login with your name and password.
Once we adopt ShiftLink, you’ll be able to see shift details on your phone. You can then click ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’.
It’s a fast and easy solution to managing your shifts.
If you want to change the email address where you’ll be notified of shifts, use the “Edit Account” screen in your ShiftLink account.
Frequently asked questions
What is ShiftLink?
ShiftLink is a web & mobile app that helps to notify you of an open and available shift.
How does ShiftLink work?
Staff profiles are created in shiftlink.ca and transferred to a mobile app for employees’ smartphones (the app works on both Apple and Android products). The employer posts shifts in the system based on when and where the shift is taking place. If the shift information matches an employee’s profile, they will be notified through the app. The staff member can view the shift details and then accept or decline.
How will I know if I’ve got the shift or not?
The staffing office makes a selection (based on the applicable collective agreement) and the system will send notifications to either inform you that you have been awarded the shift or that it has been filled by someone else.
How do I set up my ShiftLink account and get the mobile app on my phone?
Your profile will be created for you, and you will receive instructions on how to log in to the mobile app in an email sent to your personal email address.
What if I don’t have a ‘smartphone’?
ShiftLink can still work for you! It can send you the shift notification via email. Speak with your manager about this option.
How private is ShiftLink?
ShiftLink doesn’t track your location, nor does it capture your contacts list. We won’t give your private information to any other company. ShiftLink data is encrypted and stored in a state-of-the-art cloud server.
Will ShiftLink use up my phone’s data and storage?
No, ShiftLink’s impact on data and your phone’s storage will be negligible. You shouldn’t notice any difference.
Why are we using this new technology?
We are always looking to improve processes and are open to new technologies that can help. We believe that ShiftLink will help improve our shift filling process.
Is using ShiftLink mandatory?
Yes, for all staff who choose to pick up additional shifts
Can I change the email address where I want to be notified of shifts? / Can I edit my profile after I set it up?
You can make changes to your email, name, phone number using the “Edit Account” screen in the app under “edit account”. Any other change to your profile will have to be agreed to by your employer.
I did not receive an invitation to sign up for ShiftLink?
If you are in a staff group managed by regional scheduling and you did not receive a ShiftLink invitation at your personal email, check your junk mail folder. If there is nothing there, talk with your manager to confirm your email address is correct.
I already use ShiftLink at another site. Can I add Interlake-Eastern to my existing profile to receive shifts from them as well?
YES! ShiftLink allows you to add multiple employers to your existing profile so you don’t need a duplicate account and can receive and respond to shift posts from any site you work with that uses the system. Talk with your manager if you already use ShiftLink to accept shifts in another health region.
When will shifts start being offered on ShiftLink instead of current paper and EZ Text processes?
The use of ShiftLink to replace existing processes will begin May 5. You need to be registered with ShiftLift by end of day on May 4.
