Incentives

Manitoba health-care workers are benefiting from new, long-term collective agreements, with competitive compensation, special incentives and many monetary and non-monetary benefits.

Specific benefits and incentives vary by profession, work location and shift worked, but may include:

Nursing
  • Overtime at double pay
  • Worked holidays at 2.5x pay
  • Full time incentives – full time nurses working in the public health system may be eligible for up to 10,000 per year
  • Weekend Super Premiums – offering an additional $8 per hour for eligible nurses and shifts
  • Evening/night/weekend premiums for eligible nurses
  • Generous health spending accounts
  • Reimbursement for professional licensing fees in 2023 and 2024
  • Provincial Nursing Float Pool incentives
  • Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund grants
  • Nurses eligible to retire during the eligible period and who remain in the workforce in a full-time position (minimum 0.7EFT) are eligible for up to $10,000 over two years
  • Returning nurses who accept a full-time position with an eligible employer for a two year period may be eligible for up to $10,000.

Allied Health
  • Overtime at double pay
  • Worked holidays at 2.5x pay
  • Full time incentive – full time allied health workers in the public health system may be eligible for a $5,000 payment
  • Return of Service Recruitment and retention incentive – returning employees or existing employees who are eligible for retirement and who continue working in the public system for a two year period may be eligible for up to $10,000.
  • Weekend Super Premiums – offering an additional $8 per hour for eligible workers and shifts
  • Evening/night/weekend premiums for eligible allied health staff
  • Generous health spending accounts
  • Reimbursement for professional licensing fees in 2023 and 2024

Community & Facility Support
  • Overtime at double pay
  • Worked holidays at 2.5x pay
  • Weekend Super Premiums – offering an additional $8 per hour for eligible workers and shifts
